FP Marine Risks opens branch office in Melbourne
HONG KONG and MELBOURNE, 10 March 2006 – FP Marine Risks Limited, independent Marine Insurance brokers headquartered in Hong Kong, today announced the planned opening of a branch office in Melbourne, scheduled for April.
The move comes only five months after the opening of a representative office in Taiwan and is part of FP Marine Risk’s continuing strategy to expand internationally.
The office in Melbourne will serve as a regional branch for the whole of Australasia, including Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Philip Bilney, Executive Director of FP Marine Risks, said: “We have been involved with the Australian and New Zealand markets for some time and a key part of our growth strategy is to strengthen that with a meaningful presence on the ground.”
Peter Sandall, a well-known figure in the Australian Marine Insurance marketplace, has been appointed General Manager, Australia and New Zealand. He brings with him over 30 years of underwriting experience and the familiar exuberance that so clearly defines him.
Peter said: “I have known the FP Marine Risks team for many years and am truly excited to be joining them. This is particularly so given the recent changes in the Australian reinsurance market which have created a greater need for a marine broking specialist. We are looking forward to working with underwriters across this diverse market.”
Philip added: “Peter is a natural broker and we are privileged to welcome such a respected and inspirational character into the team.”
